Zoe Isabella Kravitz was born on December 1, 1988, in Los Angeles, California to mother Lisa Bonet, who played the second-oldest daughter on The Cosby Show, and to father Lenny Kravitz, a popular rock musician. Her paternal grandmother, Roxie Roker, was also famous for acting in the hit show The Jeffersons. Not surprisingly, Zoe Kravitz grew up immersed in the arts, and latched on to acting herself when she became a teenager.
Given her unique look, Zoe Kravitz began modeling at a young age. She appeared in the magazine Teen Vogue as well as French Jalouse. However, when Zoe Kravitz was just 17, she was photographed drinking from a large bottle of beer, which caused huge controversy. Zoe Kravitz never denied having been drinking, and her father Lenny reportedly told his daughter that the experience had been a good lesson in living in the public eye.
In March 2007, Zoe Kravitz had a sexy spread in Elle magazine.
In her quest to conquer the arts, Zoe Kravitz turned her sights to acting. In 2007, she had roles in two film projects — No Reservations with Catherine Zeta-Jones and The Brave One, a crime drama starring Jodie Foster.
Then, in 2008, she worked on flicks like the dramatic comedy Birds of America and the Mischa Barton comedy Assassination of a High School President. She also worked on Jay-Z’s music video for the single “I Know.”
In addition to finding success on the big screen, Zoe Kravitz again found herself caught up in controversy in 2008. Pictures began circulating on the internet of Zoe Kravitz wearing a top that was more revealing than she thought (we think).
Zoe Kravitz is attending the prestigious SUNY Purchase Acting Conservatory in New York. She dated actor Ben Foster, who starred in flicks like X-Men: The Last Stand and 3:10 to Yuma, for several months in 2007-08.
