Yfke Sturm might just be the sportiest supermodel you’ll ever see. Standing at 5’11” in her stocking feet, this dazzling Dutch beauty was a standout athlete throughout her teens. In fact, Yfke would probably be working in sports medicine today had she not been discovered by a fashion scout in 1997 while shopping in Amsterdam.
That chance encounter lead to her entry in the 1997 Elite Model Look Contest where, despite her inexperience, Yfke defeated thousands of other aspiring models to win top honors at the international event in Nice, France. Yfke’s victory garnered plenty of attention around the globe and she was whisked away to appear in high-profile campaigns for Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Emporio Armani, DKNY, H&M, Carolina Herrera, and Victoria’s Secret, among many others. Yfke effortlessly made the transition into editorial work as well with appearances in glossy fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, and Cosmo.
Yfke took another big step forward in her career in 2006 when she joined the ranks of Tyra Banks and hosted Holland’s Next Top Model. “It’s not a career move, but it was so exciting to do!” she says. “After modeling I would love to get more into television. But first I want to concentrate on modeling.”
