A New York native, Vanessa Ferlito was born in Brooklyn, New York, on December 28, 1980. Vanessa began her professional career in her early 20s. Vanessa’s first taste of stardom came in 2002 when she was cast in two big-screen dramas, On_Line starring Harold Perrineau and 25th Hour, a successful Spike Lee joint featuring Edward Norton and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Although still wet behind the ears, Vanessa held her own with those award-winning actors and she was soon rewarded for her efforts with roles in Tollbooth (2004) and Spider-Man 2 (2004). Vanessa continued to increase her notoriety later that same year with prominent guest-starring gigs on both The Sopranos and 24.
Vanessa returned to the big screen with substantial parts in Man of the House (2005), starring Tommy Lee Jones and Shadowboxer (2005), starring Academy Award winners Helen Mirren and Cuba Gooding Jr. Although her film career was thriving, Vanessa, anxious to return home to the Big Apple, agreed to join the cast of CSI: NY when producers offered her a role out of the blue. She stayed with the hit program for two seasons, during which time she earned high praise for her depiction of streetwise detective Aiden Burn.
Vanessa is also featured in Death Proof — part of the double-feature Grindhouse (2007) — an unapologetically sleaze-filled saga directed by Quentin Tarantino. Vanessa for one hopes it won’t be the last time the pair collaborates. “Quentin Tarantino is a genius,” she gushed. “I want to do every single film with him. He better have a role for me in everything!”
