Born and raised in Finland, Suvi Koponen has always possessed the kind of looks that generally make men stop in their tracks. In 2005, Suvi decided to apply to be a contestant on a Finnish reality show entitled Mallikoulu (or, in English, “Model School”). The series essentially boasts the same premise as America’s Next Top Model, in that it whittles a list of several prospective models down to one victor. Suvi handily dominated her opponents and walked away from the show the top winner, and she subsequently made her runway debut during the Fall/Winter ’06 season at various fashion weeks.
In the weeks and months that followed, Suvi Koponen’s profile increased exponentially after she began walking the runway for such high-profile designers as Chanel, Marc Jacobs and Hermes. Suvi quickly became a prominent fixture within the fashion world, and her flawless visage soon graced the covers of magazines across the globe. Suvi’s status as one of the most prominent up-and-coming models around was cemented in August of 2007, when New York Magazine ranked her No. 3 on their “Top 10 Models to Watch This Fashion Week” list.
