Sony’s Xperia Tablet Z debuts

Tablet-Z has introduced a new Android-powered tablet dubbed the Z.

The device – previously tipped in various rumors – boasts a 10.1-inch screen and runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean).

The 10.1-inch display is set at a resolution of 1920 x 1200 and use the Mobile Bravia Engine 2 for improved image quality. The processor inside the tablet? Qualcomm’s1.5 GHz quad-core APQ8064 processor, paired with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.

The Sony tablet also features an 8.1-megapixel Exmor R camera, promising improved imaging in low light conditions, along with NFC support and integrated LTE connectivity.

Additional specs? A microSD card slot for storage expansion, S-Force virtual surround sound, a 6000 mAh battery, a 6.9 mm thick chassis that weighs 495 g.

Unfortunately, pricing and availability is unknown at this time, although the tablet is slated to launch in Japan. The new is apparently the replacement for the Tablet S, which received a price cut earlier this month.
