Sbarro pizza is forever associated with mall food courts, New Jersey highway rest stops and train station fare. The pizza is cheesy, greasy and sometimes totally hits the spot, especially when traveling. You feel as good while you’re eating it as you feel bad after eating it.
Today, likely in effort to reach a slightly more health-conscious customer, Sbarro has debuted the Skinny Slice. Clocking in at 270 calories, the slice boasts portobello mushrooms, caramelized onions, red and green bell peppers, pecorini romano cheese, and mozzarella. The company is offering a slice for free on January 15 to everyone who likes its Facebook page.
The company is joining ranks with several other food brands that market “skinny” products. Bethenny Frankel’s Skinnygirl cocktails have seen huge success and The Cheesecake Factory is still going strong with its Skinnylicious menu.
One non-skinny slice of Sbarro cheese pizza is 460 calories.
