According to THR, Robin Williams is attached to return for the highly anticipated sequel to his 1993 hit movie Mrs. Doubtfire. The actor would be reunited with director Chris Columbus for the film, which will be written by David Berenbaum, who wrote Elf. Although it is rumored that Robin Williams will reprise his role, no actors are confirmed at this time, David Berenbaum has been said to be penning the script.
A sequel has been in the works since 2001, but the project became inactive for years after many failed drafts of the script.
Mrs. Doubtfire, originally starred Williams, Sally Field, Pierce Brosnan, Matthew Lawrence, Mara Wilson and Lisa Jakub, centered on “a struggling actor and recently divorced father of three who, in order to be closer to his children, takes on the persona of a Scottish nanny, Eupheginia Doubtfire.”
