The latest entry in Rockstar’s Max Payne series will have a heavy focus on multiplayer. Rockstar boasts that in this iteration of the franchise, “Max Payne’s combination of highly-responsive and cinematic shooting action to multiplayer.”
To date, the series has been comprised entirely of single-player adventures, and even as such the games have received very positive reviews.
In the weeks leading up to its launch, Rockstar promoted different aspects of the title with various videos, one of which focused on the multiplayer component, one looked at the various weapons in the game, and one showed players what the “Bullet Time” feature looks like in the game.
Rockstar plans to dole out a lot of downloadable content (DLC) for the game over the coming months in an effort to keep players engaged and to keep the game experience new and fresh.
Rockstar, of course, is best known for its Grand Theft Auto titles, which are engineered to create controversy.
But the publisher has a history of creating other, epic games that don’t get as much attention but are often praised just as highly from critics.
Max Payne is one of those franchises. It’s still a bloody and violent game, but in this series that content is portrayed much more in context with the storyline.
The game has an emphasis on guiding players through a captivating adventure, such that the violence is not gratuitous; it’s necessary and pivotal to keep players’ attention.
