Born in Gdansk, Poland, on October 6, 1984, Magdalena Frackowiak was destined to become a model. When she was 16, Magdalena’s mother knew her daughter had something special and sent her pictures to a Polish modeling agency for a contest, which she won. She was later scouted by Model Plus Agency in Warsaw, Poland.
In April 2006, Magdalena landed her first cover for Italian Glamour and was interviewed for Polish Elle’s September issue. But her breakthrough came later that year when she opened the Spring 2007 Yves Saint Laurent show in Paris and Style.com proclaimed her a top model of the season.
Magdalena’s career has since had nonstop success: She became the face of Ralph Lauren in 2007 and also landed the August cover of Vogue Italia that year. She was later featured in editorials for Chinese, German, and French editions of Vogue; Harper’s Bazaar; and Flair.
In 2008, Magdalena renewed her contract with Ralph Lauren and also became the face of Alessandro Dell’Acqua, and was featured in an Oscar de la Renta ad alongside Anja Rubik. That same year she landed the covers of 10 magazine and Vogue Deutsch, and was featured in editorials in top magazines like British Vogue, Vogue Paris, Vogue Nippon, V Magazine, Pop, and Allure.
Magdalena currently lives in New York City, where she continues to focus on her career. Though she has stated an interest in studying architecture in the future, right now she is completely devoted to modeling. Featured as a model of the moment in the April 2009 issue of Harper’s Bazaar, she stated in an editorial, “The best part of my job is witnessing inventiveness. The worst is that fashion requires constant care and attention, and I often neglect my personal life.” With her face popping up everywhere from ads, to editorials, to runway shows, it’s obvious that this is a girl who takes her job seriously.
