Sobieski earned praise for both performances and was offered the leading role in 1999’s TV miniseries , for which she received an Emmy nomination for Best Actress.

In 1999, Sobieski accepted more unconventional projects. She portrayed a geeky high school student opposite Drew Barrymore in Never Been Kissed(1999) and played the flirtatious daughter of a shop owner in Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut(1999), which starred Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman.
