Jennylyn Mercado was born on October 14, 1987, in the Philippines. Estranged from both of her biological parents by the time she was 4, Mercado was raised by her aunt, Lydia Mercado, who legally adopted her. Mercado grew up in Paranaque, a city in the Metro Manila region of the Philippines. During her senior high school year at the Augustinian Abbey in nearby Las Pinas, Jennylyn had already found the Filipino spotlight, working on the reality-based TV show StarStruck, a role that proved to be her gateway to acting and singing celebrity.
StarStruck propelled Jennylyn Mercado into stardom. Her first feature film was So Happy Together (2004), followed by Let the Love Begin the same year. She also received accolades from fans when she appeared in the 2006 flick Blue Moon.
Eternity was Jennylyn Mercado’s next film venture, a historical love story that Jennylyn says she’s most proud of. The movie opened in September 2006. Around the same time, she also appeared in the TV soap I Luv NY with her ex-flame and screen partner, Mark Herras.
As if that weren’t enough, the multitalented Jennylyn released her album Letting Go in 2006, and played her first major concert, which she called “Music In Me.”
