Claire Rhiannon Holt was born on July 7, 1988 in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. She kept active by participating in a plethora of sports. A natural and talented athlete, she swam, played volleyball, competed on the water polo team and took on Tae-Kwon-Do. Claire graduated from Stuartholme School in Toowong at the end of 2005.
Growing up, Claire enjoyed playing the piano and guitar and was interested in performing arts. A year after graduating from Sutartholme School in Toowoon in 2005, she auditioned for and won the role of Emma Gilbert in the Network Ten children’s television series H2O: Just Add Water, starring alongside The Secret Circle‘s Phoebe Tonkin. While the series was renewed for a third season, Claire left the show after two seasons, so that she, along with Norman Reedus and Heather Stephens, could star in Messengers 2: Scarecrow. She also appeared in the TV movie Mean Girls 2 playing a sassy character named Chastity Meyer.
In 2011, she earned a recurring role on ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars as Samara, one of Emily Field’s love interests on the show. Then, soon after, she landed a juicy role as Rebekah Mikaelson — a beautiful Original vampire — on The CW’s hit series The Vampire Diaries. Claire has also appeared in advertisements for Dreamworld, Sizzler, and Queensland Lifesaving.
