Archos 97 Titanium HD tablet goes

Archos-97-Titanium-HDWhen it comes to the market, everyone is obviously hoping to take on Apple, the undisputed mobile heavyweight champion.

So far no one has been able to come close to matching the sheer popularity of Cupertino’s iPad, although several manufacturers are edging closer to achieving similar specs, including .

Indeed, Archos recently unveiled a new tablet dubbed the – boasting a display that matches the resolution of the Apple iPad, with a 9.7-inch screen rendering a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels.

However, that’s pretty much where the similarities to the Apple iPad end. Under the hood, the Archos tablet is equipped with a 1.6 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 dual core processor, ARM Mali 400 graphics, 1 GB of RAM, and 8 GB of integrated storage.

One key feature of the Archos the iPad lacks? A microSD card for storage expansion. As expected, the Archos tablet runs Google Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is also equipped with a five-megapixel rear camera and two-megapixel front camera.

The Titanium HD measures 9.4-inches by 7.2-inches by 0.35-inches and weighs 1.4 pounds. It’s unclear when the latest Archos tablet will be available, and there’s no word on price at this time.

Hopefully, Archos will price this tablet right rather than trying to undercut the iPad only slightly.
