Ana Paula Araujo Biography 1981-
Ana Paula Araujo never set out to become a world-class model. Born in Boa Vista, Roraima, Brazil, this bombshell originally wanted to pursue a career in law. “I always wanted to be a judge,” she admits. “I’m not sure why, but when I was younger I liked to play with papers and make decisions and I always thought I would make a good judge.” Luckily for men around the world, Ana’s destiny changed at the age of 14 when she was discovered by a photographer in her hometown. “He said, ‘You have a future as a model; let’s move to São Paulo,’” she recalls. “The harder part was to convince my mom to let me go, but it worked.”
And it’s a good thing that it did. After she relocated to Brazil’s fashion capital, Ana became one of the country’s most popular models. Since 2003, she has sashayed down the runway for many top-flight designers, such as Nicole Miller, Betsey Johnson, Mark Ecko, YSL Rive Gauche, Zac Posen, and Sebastian Pons.
Ana has also been the exotic face for a number of elite promotional campaigns; however, most men probably know her best for her eye-opening debut in the 2007 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition. “To be in Sports Illustrated is such a huge thing,” she gushes. “I’m excited!” The 2007 SI Swimsuit Edition also featured rookies Bar Refaeli, Selita Ebanks and Raica Oliveira.
