Alyson Michalka Biography 1989-
Alyson Renae Michalka was born March 25, 1989, in Torrance, California. Alyson was first introduced to acting in 1994, at the age of 5, when she appeared in theatre productions put on by churches around Seattle and California. As a young girl, Alyson appeared in musicals, such as Jailhouse Rock and A Time to Remember.
In 1999, her artistic talent won her a fourth-grade Christmas-card designing contest; she was 10 years old at the time. Soon after, Alyson and her younger sister, Amanda, moved to Los Angeles with their parents.
In 2004, Alyson was cast as Keely Teslow on the Disney TV series Phil of the Future. She had been auditioning for roles since the age of 11, and sealed the deal for the Disney show when she was 13. The series concerns the Diffy’s — a family from the year 2121 that was transported back to the year 2004, and must find a way to accept their new surroundings.
Alyson landed a lead role as Keely, best friend to the Diffy son, Phil. Alyson’s first professional acting job turned out to be a hit for the Disney channel.
In 2005, Alyson continued her work on Phil of the Future. It was also in 2005 that she began her singing career, recording tracks for the Disney Channel Original Movies Now You See It (2005) and Twitches (2005).
The feature-length films Herbie: Fully Loaded and Ice Princess, both released in 2005 as well, also featured music by Alyson, setting her singing career off to a big start.
The year 2005 brought Disney marketing to a head in its music department. Alyson and Amanda featured music on two albums released in February and June 2005, respectively: Disneymania, Vol. 3 and Disney Girlz Rock.
Alyson and her sister also decided to make an album together in 2005, entitled Into the Rush. In order to promote the album’s release, Alyson and Amanda made a movie, Aly & AJ in Concert, in which Alyson made her directorial debut at age 16.
In 2006, Alyson and Amanda signed up to star in the made-for-TV movie Cow Belles, a movie about two rich sisters who are forced to take over the family business when their father is no longer able to manage it. Until then, Alyson continues to star in Phil of the Future on the Disney Channel.
Alyson has also taken an interest in fashion and plans to start a clothing line. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her parents, her sister and their two dogs, Saint and Bandit.
