5 Foods Myths

orange-juiceYou can often hear that this or that product has “magical” healing properties. However, this is not always the case. Doctors have told what foods’ health benefits are no more than a myth.

The list of foods which benefits are not as great as hyped by marketers includes , , , , and .

  1.     Orange juice is not as useful as many think because of much sugar, which is absorbed almost instantly. The sugar raises the blood glucose level, causing an uncontrolled release of insulin that is a great load for the pancreas and increases the risk of developing diabetes.
  2.     Not all the tomatoes contain the beneficial lycopene, which effectively fights cancer and helps maintain youthfulness. It was found that chemicals used in the cultivation of tomatoes lower the benefits several times.
  3.     Green coffee, which is advertised as a product with a slimming effect does not work either. This coffee, according to doctors, can have a laxative effect, but otherwise its help in losing weight is just a myth. In addition, it is contraindicated in a number of diseases.
  4.     Oysters are not as good in boosting men power, as it is considered. This effect can be achieved when they are eaten raw and fresh, literally just out of the water, and only if they have accumulated enough zinc and glycols.
  5.     Pineapples, even though they contain many vitamins and minerals, do not split fat cells, as is typically thought, but they break up proteins – so this fruit is useless for weight loss. Besides, pineapples have a high glycemic index plus a good ability to raise desire for foods.
